Hi, I’m Roberta! Our story began on a sunny spring day when my husband, Jim, and I drove around a beautiful neighborhood looking for a home to purchase. Our sweet son, Gabriel, joined us on this adventure. As we toured a few houses, we were captivated by the charming farms with horses, goats, cattle, and even chicken coops and gardens. It was love at first sight!
With God’s help, we bought our home. After moving in, I told Jim I wanted chickens, so we started with 16 pullets and later added several breeds of ducks to our flock. I also drove by a nearby goat farm almost daily, growing increasingly intrigued by the small yet impressive dairy goats. I learned they were Nigerian Dwarf goats, which sparked my journey to learn more about this breed.
Our first two goats, Nani and Lua from Tiny Hill Farm, brought us immense joy and the promise of delicious goat milk. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of meeting wonderful breeders who have become true mentors. Our little herd participates in DHIR milk testing and other performance programs with the American Dairy Goat Association. Our fridge is always full of fresh milk, and we never run short on eggs.
Cheers to homesteading!
At Golden Heart Dairy Goats, we are dedicated to breeding dairy goats that excel both on the milk stand and on the ADGA scorecard. Our goal is to improve our herd with each generation. We pay close attention to the mammary systems of our Does, striving to produce udders that are well-attached, capacious, with centered teats that are easy to hand milk. We spend a lot of time with our goats, ensuring they are friendly and easy to handle, even by small children on the homestead.
